What brought you to Ithaca?

Came here for school at Ithaca College in 2009, to study music. Left for a while and came back in 2016.

What do you currently do for work?

I work in alumni affairs and development in the college of agriculture and life sciences & botanical gardens at Cornell University

You are married, what is your spouse's name and how did you meet?

Lars we met in college because he was the brewer at Bandwagon, knew each other vaguely, had a lot of mutual friends and then once we were single saw that we were on dating apps and decided to go out. On our first date we went to the Rhinehouse and stayed out until 2 am. 


What brought you to Pallas?

My partner at the time went to Pallas, I was running a lot and doing triathlons and hadn’t ever done anything like it and was curious about building strength. 


How long have you been a member at Pallas?

Since 2017, Murph was one of the first workouts I did

How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Since 2017

What keeps you motivated to keep coming to the gym? 

Two things:

First the community here. I really enjoy being part of a team and getting to know people.

Second, doing a hard thing each day, I get to challenge myself.


What’s your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement(s)?

Favorite: handstand push-ups

What’s your go to comfort food?

Thai food; curry, noodles, spicy food

What is your go to outside the gym activity for self care?

Gardening & cooking


What is your favorite thing to grow?

Peas, not really sure why, but they are early and usually the first thing to come up, they provide so much nutrients for the ground and us. They are so pretty and I love peas. Fresh peas sauteed with mint and salt is the best thing ever. 


Are Georgia peaches really that good?

Obligated to say yes, but South Carolina produces more peaches than Georgia and they are really good, say maybe not.

You are a cat mom, how many do you have and what are their names?

2, May & Bisou. Bisou I've had for 8 years, she is 12, got her from the SPCA in Tompkins County. May we’ve had her for 4 years, she appeared in my backyard.


You recently bought a house and have been renovating it, what is your favorite part of your house?

I love our backyard, our yard is amazing and we can’t wait to start our huge garden next year!


Where is the coolest place you’ve visited?

Japan, I spent a summer there in high school. Kyoto is so different than any place I have ever been.


What book would you recommend to a stranger?

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer  is my favorite book

She's an environmentalist and indigenous person and it's all about the ecology of our world

If you could live anywhere and money wasn't an issue, where would you choose?

Anywhere in Maine


Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people?

I really like the metal music genre, My Chemical Romance

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start at Pallas?

Everyone here is here to support you, its more about challenging yourself than others judging you. Try to be easy on yourself, its fun and we are all here to move. 

Favorite thing about Pallas? 

The people! The coaches! It’s so fun to get to know people, especially with Ithaca being such a small town it’s fun to get to know people in a small gym environment, and build community with lots of different types of people!
