1. Where are you from?

Ithaca, NY - born and raised

2. What keeps you in Ithaca?

Vet school and then a job and family.

3. What do you do for a living?

I'm a veterinarian specializing in integrative medicine. I'm particularly passionate about acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy.

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Here, in Ithaca, with my husband Ryan (we are currently engaged) living our best homestead life.

5. What brought you into CFP?

I have two close friends (Gina and Lisa!!) who were already part of the Pallas community and I kept hearing from both of them how much I would like it and they finally convinced me to try it out.

6. What keeps you coming to CFP?

The community is exceptional. I was welcomed from the start and people took the effort to know my name and check in with me. I've really enjoyed watching my progress and seeing visible gains. Feeling strong is super empowering!

7. What’s a goal you’ve crossed off your list?

I can do a strict pull-up now and I never thought I would be able to do that!

8. What’s your next goal and what steps are you taking to achieve it?

So many! My top goal is to get a free standing handstand and work towards handstand walks. I've been working on hand balance with pigeon poses, wall walks (nose to the wall), and negatives from the wall. Any chance I can get Ryan to be my "wall" free standing that is super helpful too.

9. What’s your favorite movement?

I love rope climbs or anything upside down. Still working on technique, but I like climbing. It's so different from everything else.

10. Do you have a least favorite?

Really heavy lifts and anything overhead is still scary to me so I get nervous when I see those programmed.

11. If you could write a WOD, what would it look like?

Row, then run to the inlet (with my dog), get on a stand-up paddle board and paddle (with my dog), then get off run back (with my dog), handstands, and a rope climb. Accessory work of playing with my dog.

12. Do you have a favorite season?

Fall, I love warm sunny days with fall color and cool nights with a bonfire.

13. Where’s your favorite place to hike in the Finger Lakes?

Treman, particularly upper Treman is a favorite as well as the rim trail at Taughannock.

14. What do you do for self care?

Some yin yoga, hikes and time in nature with my dog Lila, cooking, and quiet Sundays at home.

15. What’s the first thing you want to do when Shelter In Place is done?

Besides taking a class at Pallas, go out to dinner or brunch and then go to Cinemopolis.

16. What’s your favorite restaurant?

So many great places, but high on the list is Bickering Twins, Carriage House, and Asia Cuisine.

17. Where’s your dream Honeymoon spot?

Ryan and I are actively discussing this right now. Currently it is looking like Costa Rica, specifically the Monteverde cloud forest. I love to travel so once that is allowed again I'll be excited to have some adventures.

18. What would you say to someone hesitant about starting CrossFit?

The community is amazing and there are modifications that can fit every ability. The coaches are fantastic and while you will definitely be challenged you will also be supported. I'm so grateful to have access to the resources and skills of this community because even though we are separated (for now) we can still be in this together.
