Jess: Connecticut, but lived in ithaca longer than anywhere else

Jason: Blissfield, MI– a very happy place

How did you meet?

CrossFit of Ithaca

How long have you been together?

6 years, since 2019

How long have you been in Ithaca?

Jess: 36 years

Jason: Off and on since 1999, 26 years

What brought you to Ithaca?

Jess: Ithaca College

Jason: opened first retail store in 1995, a cell phone shop, and I thought it would be a great place to raise a family. 

What is your education in?

Jess: Elementary Education

Jason: Aerospace Engineering

What do you currently do for work?

Jess: Director of Culinary Operations–manage back of house at Ithaca Beer

Jason: Residential and Commercial leasing

What is your favorite part of your job and least favorite?

Jess: Favorite, cooking & creating dishes Least, putting orders away

Jason: favorite, my tenets and least is my tenets

What brought you to Pallas?

How long have you been a member at Pallas?

6 months

What keeps you motivated to keep coming to the gym? 

Jess: I feel so much better doing CrossFit than not

Jason: It hurts so much when you take time off, I want to get back in shape and feel like I used to.



What’s your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement(s)?

Jess: Favorite: TTB, thrusters LEAST: WBS

Jason: Favorite: Olympic lifts, love cleans and dropping a heavy bar. LEAST: Burpees

What would your ideal WOD consist of?

Jess: TTB, Sit-ups, Dubs

Jason: Annie, I love it, PC, Rowing

Jess: Hick-hop

Jason: Volbeat, and or any type of Fall Out Boy radio

What’s your go to comfort food?

Jess: Pasta—spaghetti with tomato sauce

Jason: Ice Cream-OG Häagen-Dazs strawberry

What is your go to outside the gym activity for self care?

Jess: Swimming

Jason: Swimming, jumping off our dock

Favorite place you have lived?

our current lake house

Where is the coolest place you’ve visited?

Cork, Ireland

What book would you recommend to a stranger?

Jess: Every single John Irving book, A Widow for One Year is the best one

Jason: The Martian by Andy Weir

If you could live anywhere and money wasn't an issue, where would you choose?

Jess: Where I live now or the South of Spain

Jason: Where we live now but with a heated driveway and an elevator

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise most people?

Jess: I used to be a goalie and I am half Chilean

Jason: I used to say I was 5’10” with hair

What advice would you give to someone who is hesitant to start at Pallas?

Jason: It gets better, just keep coming. The only cure for CrossFit is CrossFit

Jess: The sooner you start, the happier you are going to be.

Favorite thing about Pallas? 

Jason: New Floors, the coaches

Jess: The coaching, the programming, and I feel comfortable here.
